How to Play Golfdle

Three holes a day. Guess each word in as few strokes as possible.

The Basics

Golfdle is a daily word puzzle game. Each day you play a round of three holes. Each hole has a single five-letter target word that you need to guess. You have up to seven attempts per hole.

Guess Feedback

After each guess, every letter is coloured to tell you how close you are. For example, if the target word is BIRDIE and you guess BREAD:

B R E A D

Scoring Like a Round of Golf

Each hole has a par, which is the target number of strokes (guesses) for a strong player. Your goal is to come in under par. The fewer strokes, the better.

ResultMeaningScore
Hole-in-OneSolved in 1 guess−3 or lower (varies by par)
Condor4 or more under par−4 or lower
Albatross3 under par−3
Eagle2 under par−2
Birdie1 under par−1
ParMatched par0
Bogey1 over par+1
Double Bogey2 over par+2

After all three holes are played, your total score is the sum of your hole results. Below par = you beat the round. Above par = the round beat you. Tomorrow's another chance.

Tournaments

From Thursday through Sunday, Golfdle runs a weekly tournament. Each day's round contributes to a four-round tournament total. Players are ranked on a public leaderboard, and tournament finishes earn Grand Cup points that compound across the season.

Monday through Wednesday are practice days. You can still play your daily round, but scores don't count toward the weekly tournament.

Strategy Tips

Coming Back Daily
